Mexico CV format: photo, RFC, and the old objective

Mexican resume: photo still common, RFC/CURP only if asked, and the objective you can drop. How to adapt the PDF. ClarCV.

A CV format for Mexico is closer to Spain than 2012 “Mexican hoja de vida” templates suggest. People say currículum or CV, not always hoja de vida. A photo is still more common than in Spain. RFC and CURP are not a mandatory header on the PDF you send to a multinational ATS: they go on the form or payroll when asked. People searching this usually have a Spain or Colombia file and want to “Mexicanise” it without rewriting their career.

Short map: photo if the local market or vacancy expects it; sensitive IDs off the PDF; professional objective → summary or the objective guide. Country names: hoja de vida vs CV. Photos in general: photo on the CV.

ClarCV (clarcv.com) is not a Mexican labour firm. It regenerates a parseable A4. You remove RFC if it does not belong and keep vacancy keywords. Free: 3 analyses and 2 downloads / 30 days, no card. Pro €7/month.

What to strip (and what to keep)

Before: a two-page Word with an oval photo, RFC, a six-line objective, and “Microsoft Office”. After: one column, city, LinkedIn, a profile with sector and one number, experience with outcomes, Office split (advanced Excel, not “suite”). OCC, Computrabajo, or a plant Workday wants text, not a high-school crest.

From Spain or Colombia to a Mexican vacancy

Switch vocabulary (currículum, not only hoja de vida; “licenciatura” if it applies). Month/year dates. English: CEFR or TOEFL if you have it, not “English 90%”. Do not paste a salary in euros. If the file is two-column Canva, flatten first: a Mexican parser is not more magical than a Spanish one.

FAQ

Is a photo mandatory in Mexico?

No single law forces it on every process. In local practice many recruiters expect it. On a global ATS it often should go. Two PDFs solve the split.

University and GPA?

University yes. GPA only if it is strong or they ask (grants, trainee).

Does ClarCV cover Mexican labour rules?

No. It is a document tool. Hiring and contracts are the employer’s.
